Build Process

FRAME

We start with an original frame. The Power Wagon Frame is amazing and easily transitions to its modern build. We blast the frame back to metal and begin welding its new motor, transmission and suspension mounts. Once the new mounts are placed we seal with an epoxy primer and paint.

DRIVETRAIN

Now the new power plant and transmission are installed onto the frame. Depending on your power choice of a Cummins 6BT or a Hemi, we then match the motor to your choice of transmission, Automatic or Manual. We are using a ATS 6-speed transmission.

SUSPENSION AND AXLES

We use Dana 60 axle with a coilover suspension with either a custom 5-lug Bud Wheel replica or an 8-bolt hub that allows the use of modern wheels. We are using 37” Toyo RT’s on our trucks unless the customer chooses otherwise.

CAB AND BED

We then attach the new 4-door cab to the frame to insure a proper fit. The new cab with come with new rear doors and very soon new front doors. Our suppliers are now able to reproduce to factory specs a nearly new cab and a totally new bed. All of our parts are made out of steel and fit the truck better than when they were new.

BODY AND PAINT

The body and bed are again removed from the frame and hours of sanding and prep work are completed in order to prepare the cab and bed for painting. We use only the best primers and paints on our vehicles to insure you will have a spectacular show truck.

FINISHED PRODUCT

You are now ready to drive your work of art. We advise you to plan your trips wisely as it will take longer to get where you are going due to all the lookers, photos, questions, and pure excitement your truck brings to people when you drive it. I have had to get used to people approaching me EVERYWHERE I drive from the gas station to the grocery store. The truck is truly amazing!

MAINTENANCE

Because our trucks are built with modern power trains and parts, our vehicles are able to be serviced easily throughout the US. This will provide you with the confidence to drive your Desert Power Wagon daily and the comfort of knowing that you do not need parts for a 1940s or 1950s Dodge Power Wagon. Now, how cool is THAT?!?
